FFF: Fab 50 Friday

FFF: Fab Fifty Friday

Now there has been this thing on social media that’s been trending called #TheDress. Now I’m a fashionista so naturally I was pretty curious about what it was. I had people all over my twitter posting about this dress. Now I just saw a black and blue dress so I didn’t see what the big deal was. Then I started reading the comments and found out that some people saw the dress color to be white and gold. I thought this was insane because all over social media people were fighting back and forth about what color the dumb dress was. Further curious, I walked over to my parents that night and asked them what color they saw. Apparently I’m the only one in my house who saw the dress as black and blue. We had a miniature family war over what color we saw. I did some reading into how it was possible for certain people to see one color and other people see another color. I read things from someone’s mood affecting what color you see to people claiming that it has to do with being some sort of color blind. I mean this lasted about a week guys! It was crazy how much attention this silly dress got and how much conflict it caused. There were even celebrities such as Taylor Swift joining the trend posting what colors they saw.

I also own this game called Crossy Road on my phone. I really love the app and find it quite fun, especially when i’m bored. The objective of the game is to try and cross as many roads as a character without dying. One is able to unlock different characters. I had almost all the characters and then I found out there was this update that would open up more characters so I got the update to challenge myself some more. I started looking through the different characters and what do I see? One of the characters I saw…. was #TheDress! I kid you not! This crazy dress got so much attention that it even get’s it’s own character on a popular game! When you play as this character the dress changes from black and blue to white and gold each time you play it! It’s absurdly cool!

Now you may be thinking I created this outfit using #TheDress as inspiration but I assure you that is not the case. I created the outfit and then after taking a good look at it I made a little joke inside my head. I told myself “is the dress white and gold…or do some people see black and blue?” Yes I know it’s a silly joke but I thought it would make for quite the interesting post, especially for those who have no idea what it is. To be completely honest the first thing I thought about when I saw the completed outfit was how it looked like something one of the Kardashians would wear because they seem to wear a lot of white. I mean I don’t blame them, the color looks good on them.

Now I do want to point out that this outfit ended up being a bit more than fifty dollars but how could I not post it? I thought it was too good of an outfit to waste. Now usually I would try and avoid crop tops as much as possible because I was very self conscious about exposing too much skin or if that would look trashy. I have recently discovered that crop tops are not a bad thing as long as you know how to dress it right and make it look more stylish and classy without the intention being to expose a lot of skin. I have found that high waisted bottoms look better with crop tops. That’s why I included a high waisted skirt with the crop top. Yes you may expose a little bit of skin but it doesn’t look trashy, it’s still pulled off as classy. The heels are lace and expose almost a brownish goldish tone which is where I combined the earrings to match. What I love about this all white outfit is that you can put pretty much any jewelry and it will still match. You can use vibrant colors to make the outfit fun or use subtle colors to keep it more elegant. Look at the picture of the dress and leave a comment telling me what colors you see. I would love to see how many people see one color over the other.

The post today it’s an accurate representation of how intense my week was. This is only the second week of school and I have been going to bed past 11 PM every day and that’s just homework for God’s sakes! Going back to school can take a toll on your overall emotional wellness. It is not only the stress of classes and grades and fitting in, but it also means having to deal with people, the good, the bad, and the in between (the ones that just don’t care).

I understand not everybody will have my same opinions and I respect that, however that won’t stop me from dissecting other’s opinions (at least in my head). The other day at lunch, I overheard a group at the table talking about the Ebola outbreak in Africa and the two Americans that were brought back to Atlanta for medical care. I guess that because we live so close to Atlanta it was a very passionate discussion. The consensus pretty much was that the government did wrong and that they shouldn’t have brought them back to the US and risk an outbreak at home.

I couldn’t help but cringe as I heard them talk. I do realize that there is politics behind the whole decision and that it is probably more complicated than what I can even begin to imagine or understand, but in my opinion it was the right thing to do. Call me naive or stupid but to me it is an expression of moral and humanity at it’s best. That doesn’t mean I am not afraid, we all are but these kids are so consumed by their own fears that they would rather abandon people than provide a helping hand. Now, if that is not losing humanity what is? I got emotional, they were discussing the lives of two people, not lab monkeys (although that is pretty bad too). These two inconveniences and takers of their good night sleep are our citizens, our missionaries. They represent the goodwill of our nation and they represent each and every one of us. They stand up for causes that we are too scared or inconvenienced to take on. We should be grateful to them, they do the work that nobody else wants or cares to do. They are heroes! Oh, but it is so easy to criticize others. It is so easy these days to not feel empathy for others. Why!!!??? What went wrong? When as a society did we lose it? When did it start? I know it is probably a combination of my personality and my parents teachings but I feel for them, I feel for their families. I asked myself as I continued to listen to their ramblings: “I wonder if they would say the same thing if it was one of their parents/siblings/grandparents?” I felt defeated. These people are the future of this nation! What is next? No army because they are too selfish to care for anybody else?

I hope that something good comes out of this. I really do. Think about it. How long has this virus been around? How many people has it killed? Who cares, right? It was poor African people, it was not us. As we bring these two Americans home we are confronted with the realization that we have to do something. It’s not a third world country anymore, it’s us! There is money for research now, companies are willing to work on a cure now… the irony. Too poor to be saved. I apologize if we don’t share the same opinions, please know that I do respect yours and that in no way I am trying to offend anybody that differs from mine. I am so glad I got that out of my chest!

I can’t deny my mood has been somber since that conversation, so writing this post is my way of releasing those emotions to start working on my positivity again. The outfit represents my view (at least this week) of the future. A bleak, black and white one, no colors, not even gray. Good vs evil. In or out. The FAIL cap was the piece that brought everything together. We FAILED! Forget about the latest dystopic novels, in our future, there is no more humanity among or within us.

Happy Friday everybody! Usually I am usually more excited about it being Friday, but it’s the summer so weekdays or weekends don’t make a difference. This summer hasn’t been full of traveling for me which I miss dearly. I miss our family camping trips that we would take to other places. I miss all the road trips we would take and see all the interesting things on the way. The last family trip we took was to Washington D.C. last year and I had a lot of fun. I love the memories we always tend to make and the traditions we have. One tradition we have is that everywhere we stop we get fudge from a local candy shop.

I decided to do a destination inspired outfit as my Fab Fifty outfit today. Today’s Fab destination would be Palm Springs because I found a shirt that said Palm Springs and it was super cute. I paired it up with a black and white polka dotted pencil skirt. For those cool summer nights in the desert I threw in a nice denim jacket to cover yourself up with. To finish off the outfit I added some black loafers for both look and comfort. Loafers are like a slipper inside a cute shoe! Love them! The whole outfit cost $49.00 and it’s perfect for the summer. I can see this outfit being worn to a night party for some reason, I just think that it would look great under a certain light. I would also wear this to walk around town or go on vacation. What I love about this outfit is how comfortable it looks to wear, and how nice it must be to walk around in. Definitely a great outfit to do some touristic things.

For this Fab Fifty I decided I wanted to make an outfit that would look great on the water front. The first thing that came to mind when I thought water front was a sailor. The thing is that I’m not going to put a sailor outfit as a Fab Fifty because it’s way too expected, and kind of a bore. I decided to give a little flirt and flair to the original sailor outfit and make it something that a person can actually wear out to public places. Plus I have been on many vacations that have water fronts but never had the perfect outfit for it. So being able to create an affordable Fab Fifty Friday will help spark up some inspiration outfits for the next time I go on vacation.

For this outfit I found a black and white tube top under a white cardigan, both are from H&M. I paired it with some navy blue slacks that are also from H&M. The shoes as well come from H&M and they’re white with lace on top. I was really lucky to be able to find a majority of an outfit at H&M. But don’t get me wrong, just because I was able to find an outfit in the same store so quickly doesn’t mean I didn’t go take small sneak peaks at other stores. The only reason I was able to find the necklace and didn’t settle for anything at H&M was because I went to Charming Charlies as well to look at their stuff and found the perfect necklace! I love the color navy blue and coral together, the colors just go so well together. The whole outfit cost $50.99 which was a really good deal.

I know that I’ve never really mentioned the background pictures except for when I do Inspiration Mondays, but I was so lucky to find these pictures. The sail boat helped me paint that water front outfit picture in my head and matched the outfit very well. The whole picture together looks as if I created a post card which is a really cool look.

This outfit is perfect to wear to all sorts of places. I already know that I’m getting close to the age of getting a job so if I ever needed an outfit to wear for a day on the job this would be perfect. This is also a great outfit to wear when on vacation, you can enjoy the view in a comfortable yet stylish way. I definitely wish I owned this outfit last year when I went to Tennessee and walked along the river side.

For years I would go shopping with my mom around the summer time in search of the perfect white summer dress for her. She never has been able to find the perfect dress she was looking for and she would always get pretty bugged about it. I have to admit, I would like a white dress for the summer myself. I just imagine how pretty a white dress would look with the blue of the ocean water in a picture. Plus white is a color that looks really good against my mom’s and I’s skin tone.

While I went online shopping for today’s Fab Fifty I found this gorgeous white skater dress with a crochet like top. I fell in love instantly and started thinking about all of the different looks I could style with that dress. White is a color that you can combine with any color and it would still like fabulous. Instead of using some ordinary expected color, I decided to give the outfit a little edge by adding denim. I guess you could say I’m sort of a risk taker. Plus I’m glad I decided to do that because it separated this outfit from a lot of other different looks and made it a little unique. I really  like making things unique so that’s why I always to try and add a little flair to my outfits.

I found the white dress at Persun mall for $23.99 and I thought that was an amazing deal! I found the purse at Target for $8.74 and that was the piece that had me pair up denim with this dress. To match the purse I added a denim sandal from Persun mall as well for $15.99. The bracelet I found at Claire’s and it finished up the look really well. I love this look because I could wear it to the movies, go out on a casual date, I could also go shopping in this. 4th of July is coming up and this would be a perfect outfit to wear to a family

Lately here in Georgia it’s been raining pretty much every day so I decided to do a Fab Fifty inspired by the sun to brighten up my mood. Seeing skies of gray really isn’t all that pleasing when I was looking forward to a summer of sun and endless fun. I’m starting to miss the warm rays and the heat that we usually get down here. It hasn’t been very hot down here, at least not like last summer where I would go outside and feel as if I was melting. It seems like the sound of thunder is becoming more and more familiar this summer. Hopefully as a few more days go by we’ll start to see more and more sunlight break through the dark clouds and shed a little more light on us.
For this outfit I used these floral shorts with all sort of vibrant colors in them from persunmall for $19.99. I paired it up with this very loose yellow shirt from persunmall as well for $9.99. I love this shirt for this outfit because it’s very fun just like summer is. The shoes are a dark blue that is found in the shorts with a gold outline for $16.99 at Target. The bracelet is gold and black which looks really well with the shirt for $2.00 at Claire’s. This outfit would be perfect for walking around town or going to the mall with friends. You can even use it as an awesome outfit for going to the beach or the lake.

Summer has started for us down here in Georgia and I know that some people are still trying to find bathing suits on a budget. Well ladies I have found the solution! The answer is clearance shopping! I went to different stores online looking for bathing suits that are fairly priced. I found a lot of different bathing suits in different stores that looked great and were fairly cheap. I had so much money left over that I was able to buy an outfit to put over the bathing suit and some accessories. Who says you have to spend a lot to look like a million bucks?

The floral blue, red, white, and black bathing suit top was found at Target AND it is Peter Pilotto for Target. I combined this bathing suit top with a bottom that I found at H&M because they both had the same blue.  The bathing suit alone costs $11.28 leaving with me with $38.72 to buy an outfit to put over the bathing suit. I found the shirt and pants at H&M. The white bulldog shirt looks amazing on top of the black and white polka-dotted pants. What I love about these pants is that it’s a short on the bottom with a sheer long pant on top to show the shorts underneath. I found some black flip-flops at Rue 21 and they were super cute for a shoe made of rubber. I also added a bag from H&M so that you can put any beach needs such as a towel and sunblock. And like any person should have on when going to a sunny place, I added sunglasses. The black sunglasses I found at H&M. Add a red lip and you are perfect! Yes, I said add a red lip to the beach. Why not? The whole outfit costs $47.22 so you have some change back to make sure you get a good sunblock to protect your skin. Cute and smart! 🙂

I know what you guys may be thinking, it’s been a while since the last time I posted a Fab 50 Friday. Summer vacation started for me last week so now you guys will have a lot more posts coming your way. So far summer vacation has been ok, but there has been a lot of rain down here and it’s not a good way to start off a summer when it’s constantly raining and thundering. Anyways, enough about how my summer is going so far. Let’s start talking about the outfit because that’s really what you came to this post for. Before I start talking about the individual pieces, I wanted to mention where you could wear this outfit to. Now summer is full of perfect opportunities for this dress! Some of you may have a nice party or some sort of banquet you want to attend. Some may even have a hot summer date and you want to dress to impress! Opportunities are endless with this outfit! One of the things that I love is that you may have paid 50 dollars for the outfit, but you’ll look like a million bucks!

The dress is from persunmall and it costs $31.99. I have found multiple dresses on this website that I have used in my earlier Fab 50 Fridays. This dress is super cute and fun! Even though the dress consists of mostly black, it’s still super feminine and girly. The earrings are from Charming Charlie and they cost $3.99. That’s a super amazing deal for these earrings since they look like they cost more than a hundred dollars. The shoes are 15.00 at H&M. What I love about high heels is that they make a girl look more confident and structured, that is as long as you know how to walk in them. I don’t know what it is with me and black dresses but I just love them so much! I looked into my closet a little while ago and I found out that I own 6 black dresses. I think I’ve got my little black dress down! But I wouldn’t mind having another one if it’s going to be this cute! A couple weeks ago I went to a chorus banquet and wore a black and white dress to the occasion. I loved that dress but I think I would have impressed people more by wearing this outfit. I also want to mention that I won the Class Choral Achievement Award that night. I was the only one in the beginners chorus to get that award. It was one of the best awards I have gotten. To take a look at the dress I wore that night and the award I got that night, follow me on Instagram and take a look at the picture.

Hey guys! I know I have not been posting much lately to this teen fashion blog, it’s getting closer to final exams and homework is just starting to pile on. Today is Friday, which means it’s a Fab Fifty Friday. I always get super excited to post these fifty dollar outfits because I can look at a really cute outfit and not hate the fact that I may not be able to afford everything . I mean an outfit, accessories, and shoes is an amazing deal for only fifty dollars. The best part is that some outfits may look a hundred times that price.

This Fab Fifty Friday I’m using a cute green dress that I found at persunmall.com! The dress was way too fabulous to turn down and only for 28 dollars! I immediately started working on an outfit for this dress and I found some more amazing deals. The shoes were super cute and only 15 dollars! I could not believe my eyes when I saw the prices, it almost felt too good to be true. The earrings were only 8 dollars, it’s not one of the best deals I have seen at Charming Charlie but it wasn’t bad for these earrings either. I love this outfit because of how elegant and modern it is. The cuts in the dress are very simple but clean and there are no patterns which makes the dress super chic. This look added up to be 50.99 which is only 99 cents over the budget, but hey just go look in some jean pockets or under you couch and I’m sure you’re bound to find some extra change laying around. Graduations are coming up and this would be an amazing outfit for that special event! Look classy and sophisticated on one of the biggest moments of your life!

It’s Friday! Since this week was spring break, I had a Friday without worrying about tests that I would have to take today or projects that needed to be turned in. Instead of at school I pretty much spent the whole day outside walking around town and just hanging out in my backyard. The weather was perfect today, not cold and not too hot. My mom, my sister, and I went out today with one of my mom’s friends to take pictures of random things we thought were pretty. It was really cool because I got to use the knowledge I learned in the summer about art, such as the rule of thirds. We also found this little cupcake shop that won cupcake wars and catered for the MTV awards called Smallcakes Cupcakery. The cupcakes there were full of flavor, very moist, and really pretty. Once we got home I was still too addicted to the weather outside so I put on some shorts to go walk around  my house. I took my dog out for a walk, went walking in the woods behind my house, and rode my bike for a bit. When my dad came home we threw the frisbee around for about an hour. To end the day we all got cleaned up and went out to dinner at this amazing Thai place near our house and finished with a delicious soba smoothie.

My day was so free and peaceful that I decided to incorporate my mood into a Fab Fifty Friday outfit. I found this dress and instantly fell in love with it, it’s just so girly and so me! I also added the oxfords because they were pretty. I love oxfords because they are super comfortable to walk in. I have had this obsession lately for these thin headbands, I don’t really know why because they are more for the boho style and that is not my type of style. I love this outfit because it is so simple with the colors and the patterns but it’s still very girly and classy. This outfit definitely looks like something I would find myself pulling out of my closet. Some people tend to think that having one color in an outfit is just too much, but if you do it right and mix textures and patterns you can end up with something really cute and stylish.
