Style Cravings: Body Chains

Body Chains

The first time I heard of body chains I thought of the chains that magicians wrap themselves up in and then try to escape out of, not a cute piece of jewelry. The first few celebrities who hit this trend hard where Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. I don’t know about you but I don’t really trust Miley Cyrus’s clothing style, I mean she was well know for JUST wearing a wrecking ball. Rihanna I don’t really trust either, she doesn’t tend to cover up her body very much. At least going off some past and more recent showings of her body, most recent would be the see through mesh dress at the CFDA Awards. I decided to give some fresh faces. The one on the far right in the black bikini is Vanessa Hudgens, which is rocking the body chain under the bikini top. The one in the middle is Acacia Brinley Clark with a simple body chain underneath the crop top. The one on the left is model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing a gray suit and a very simple and subtle body chain where it’s barely noticeable, but still very chic.

Next I wanted to show you guys how the body chains looked on different pieces of clothing. The one on the right is a body chain that looks more like shoulder pads made out of chains but is still super pretty. What I love about this outfit is how the body chain balances out with the skirt on the bottom, also I love the look of the gold body chain on the black crop top. The outfit in the middle is a very simple silver body chain under a white crop top. Note: Even though two of the girls are wearing crop tops, they styled it right to where they don’t look trashy, but quite elegant. The girl on the left side is wearing a simple grey dress with a very simple body chain. The dress was pretty boring by itself so by adding the body chain she gave it a better look.

c600x438

Body chains mostly come in gold and silver like any ordinary neck chain. There have been two colors so far that I’ve seen where the neck chains color contrast looks amazing, which are black and white. White  is a very pretty and simple color and it goes with every color. A very dark silver chain is preferred for a better contrast. You can style all sort of looks with the body chains as well. In the top left corner you have a boho body chain look. On the bottom left is a casual body chain look. On the right bottom corner you have an elegant body chain look. I wanted to talk a bit more on how a body chain such as the one on the bottom right can be used at weddings. Some brides are faced with the mother of the brides and what they would like the daughter to wear. Some moms want the daughters to wear something a bit more classic instead of hip or trendy. So what the daughter could do is wear a simpler dress with one of these very elegant body chains over it for a later in the night look. I think that would be a very cute wedding look. You can also add a body chain to a simple article of clothing such as the tank top or crop top above and and make it a very chic look. I added to top right picture because it was seen on the runways and I thought it would be cool to add it. Just imagine how much that body chain would probably cost.

c600x433

The other color that looks really well with a body chain on top is black. On the top row I put in a one piece with a body chain on top because you don’t only have to wear them with bikinis. When I was looking up different body chains a majority of the styles were bikinis with the body chain on top. Would I wear a body chain with a bathing suit? No, not really. I mean if it get’s hot the chain can start to burn you and if the chain isn’t real gold or silver and I got into the water it will rust. Now I love swimming and I’m a hardcore swimmer, I like to jump off ledges into the water and do tons of flips and dives. If I were to do all of those things in a body chain then it would be sure to come off or break. Most of the body chains I found that go on top of black outfits are not very simple and accentuate the curves better. I prefer to see a body chain on top of black rather than white because I feel like they stand out a lot better and looks a lot more stylish. Plus, you don’t have to be stick skinny to wear a body chain, now some may not look as right but a lot of girls can wear body chains. They all have different shapes that fit each body type.

For a very simple body chain on ebay is no more than ten dollars which is really good for a teen’s budget. The body chains come in all sort of different shapes and sizes which I like because it adds all sort of different styles. Most of the body chains come in either silver or gold but I have seen a few that come with colored beads to add some more color. Would I wear a body chain myself? Oh yeah, definitely! I’m a really skinny person so I don’t really have curves, some of these body chains might be able to give the illusion that I do. Plus I really like all the different styles I can create with a body chain, but I still wouldn’t wear it with any sort of bathing suit. Is this a style that you guys are craving?

FFF: Fab 50 Friday

FFF: Fab Fifty Friday
FFF: Fab Fifty Friday by teen fashion blog

For this Fab Fifty I decided I wanted to make an outfit that would look great on the water front. The first thing that came to mind when I thought water front was a sailor. The thing is that I’m not going to put a sailor outfit as a Fab Fifty because it’s way too expected, and kind of a bore. I decided to give a little flirt and flair to the original sailor outfit and make it something that a person can actually wear out to public places. Plus I have been on many vacations that have water fronts but never had the perfect outfit for it. So being able to create an affordable Fab Fifty Friday will help spark up some inspiration outfits for the next time I go on vacation.

For this outfit I found a black and white tube top under a white cardigan, both are from H&M. I paired it with some navy blue slacks that are also from H&M. The shoes as well come from H&M and they’re white with lace on top. I was really lucky to be able to find a majority of an outfit at H&M. But don’t get me wrong, just because I was able to find an outfit in the same store so quickly doesn’t mean I didn’t go take small sneak peaks at other stores. The only reason I was able to find the necklace and didn’t settle for anything at H&M was because I went to Charming Charlies as well to look at their stuff and found the perfect necklace! I love the color navy blue and coral together, the colors just go so well together. The whole outfit cost $50.99 which was a really good deal.

I know that I’ve never really mentioned the background pictures except for when I do Inspiration Mondays, but I was so lucky to find these pictures. The sail boat helped me paint that water front outfit picture in my head and matched the outfit very well. The whole picture together looks as if I created a post card which is a really cool look.

This outfit is perfect to wear to all sorts of places. I already know that I’m getting close to the age of getting a job so if I ever needed an outfit to wear for a day on the job this would be perfect. This is also a great outfit to wear when on vacation, you can enjoy the view in a comfortable yet stylish way. I definitely wish I owned this outfit last year when I went to Tennessee and walked along the river side.

AFI Top 100 Movies #5: Unforgiven, A Gun Fighter’s Internal Struggle

A few days ago my mom had me continue my cultural journey by watching another movie that was on the list. The next movie we watched was Unforgiven. My dad was telling me about how Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman starred in it. The minute I heard the name Morgan Freeman I was all ears. My school seems to be really obsessed with Morgan Freeman because of his voice. A lot of my friends tell me that if they had someone to narrate their life then it would be Morgan Freeman. That makes sense!

The movie goes back to the Old West. Cowboys and gun fighters roam the towns on horseback with guns in their holsters and saloons are THE place to hang out. Will Munny (Clint Eastwood) is approached by the Schofield Kid because the kid wants Will to help him kill a guy who cut up a prostitute. There was a thousand dollars reward offered by the prostitutes so he figured that with Will’s help they would be able to collect. The kid goes to Will because he has a past of killing people for money. He finds a man that “changed” his ways for his now deceased wife. In the end Will decides to go through with it because he needs the money to help raise his kids. Will had always had a partner (Ned-Morgan Freeman) when he did his killings/jobs, so he brings him along and decides to split the money three ways. The whole movie is these three men going around looking for the two guys who cut the girl up without being caught by Little Bill, the town sheriff.  No guns are allowed in Big Whiskey (town) and this is a law that Little Bill is going to enforce even if he has to kill a couple of people in the process. That guy was an idiot, I mean what cowboy isn’t going to bring a gun wherever he goes? I guess that my takeaway was the question: can a bad man really change his ways?

All through out the movie the kid, Ned, and some of the prostitutes offer Will liquor but he turns it down. He gave up drinking a long time ago because his wife wanted him to give it up as well as his bad guy past. Near the end he finds out that his best friend Ned was killed by little Bill even though Ned backed out of killing anybody. When he finds out Ned is dead he goes into town to seek revenge. When he first rides into town he drinks a bottle of whiskey and when it’s empty he throws it on the ground. This shows how some events touch a person so much that it causes them to lose sense of what is right and wrong although in my opinion he lost sense of right and wrong at the beginning of the movie when he decided to take the law into his own hands. In the movie one of the prostitutes offers him a “free one” and he turns it down because he still has loyalty to his wife. I find it cute that even though his wife was dead he still wanted to remain faithful to her, no matter what. The man had some deeply rooted convictions for some things and no moral for others. Yikes! I think that the movie is called Unforgiven because even though he acts cool about killing people, at the end of the day he really can’t forgive himself for the bad things he has done. I don’t think that there can’t be anything worst than a person’s internal guilt because conscience can be harsher than any judge out there.

I did enjoy the movie because the effects weren’t bad and the story was interesting. There was some action but for a western movie I kind of wish there was a little bit more. I also feel like the story didn’t concentrate enough on Will, Ned, and the kid but a bit more on Little Bill and his past than they needed to. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they included some of his violent history but I wish they didn’t include so much. I do recommend people to watch this movie because it was a decent movie and I enjoyed putting myself into some of the characters shoes.

One of the funniest moments in the movie was when Little Bill kept calling the book about English Bob the Duke of Death the Duck of Death, the writer who showed him the book kept trying to explain to him that it said Duke but Little Bill would just ignore his little comment.

First I want to start saying Cardigans and Necklaces has now reached its 100th post! This is really special to me because it just shows how much I’ve been able to do since the beginning of the year. I also want to be able to thank all the  people who follow me and leave comments. I ask that you keep leaving more comments so I can continue to grow and get better with my writing. Also leave comments on what you would like to see on my blog and I might even make an article about it. I’m so excited to continue posting and writing my articles.

A couple of months ago I was invited to a Miss Teen U.S.A. Mystery Pageant birthday party. Once I called and did my RSVP I was given a packet containing my character.  I was given Ms. California which was pretty cool. Ms. California is doing the pageant to make her mom proud. In order to do the pageant she got some plastic surgery done on her nose and she went to Ms. Teen Alaska’s spa to get it done. So of course I had to be cautious of Ms. Alaska to make sure she didn’t rat me out at the party.

When I got to the party we were all given a certain space to sit and eat at. We had several meals and between each meal the waiter (birthday girl’s dad) would bring us a mint sherbet to cleanse our palates. Once we finished our meals we started the mystery pageant part. We were all given tasks to do and money to bribe others into spilling secrets. After we got the papers the lights went out and then one of the girls screamed. The lights came back on and then there lied a dead Ms. Texas among us. Everyone immediately got up and started questioning each other and threatening each other with “I will tell your secret” to find out who killed Ms. Texas. Everyone had something against Ms. Texas so everybody seemed like they were the ones who killed her. That made it kind of difficult to figure out who did it. Near the end all the girls were given the last couple clues. Ms. Texas had an affair with the past Ms. Teen U.S.A’s boyfriend. Also Ms. Texas was poisoned with green tic tacs. Looks like spear-mint is a  pretty good weapon! I know, bad pun. A girl can only try.

Later when the results were given everyone was dead silent and anxious to find out who killed Ms. Texas. The killer was… Me! Just kidding! It was Ms. Arizona, but it would have been pretty funny if it was me. I guessed that the killer was Ms. Teen U.S.A. because of how Ms. Texas had an affair with her man. What I missed was that the tic-tac bottle said made in Arizona. Good thing I’m not a detective because there would be a lot of unsolved crimes.

Also near the end there were two different contests. One of the contests was who stayed in character the best and the other was who was best dressed. I was told about the best dressed contest and I was really shooting toward winning that contest. The birthday girl won the girl who stayed best in character with a good majority of the votes. I won best dressed with a majority of the votes as well. I was super excited to get the award because the award was in my area of expertise. Also before we left we were given goody bags that included tic-tacs, bobby pins, a nail filer, tissues, hand sanitizer, nail polish, and lip gloss. All things that a mysterious beauty queen will need in her every day life.

Certificate I won

The invitation I was given told me to dress like a beauty pageant contestant so I wore the dress I wore to my 8th grade formal. The dress was a lace up dress so it still fit me pretty well. It’s an icy blue color which I love because the color is really pretty and it looks really good on me. The dress was an A-line skirt and one sleeved. I decided to wear flats to be comfortable that is why you can see in the picture that is a bit long. The jewelry was a simple silver and crystal bracelet and earrings that I got from Claire’s that looked expensive but fairly priced. I also wore my crystal tiara to match the jewelry as every pageant princess needs her own tiara. I even made my own sash because I thought we needed to bring our own, but they supplied us with sashes and tiaras at the party. Like I did for formal I made sure to curl my hair, except this time I did it myself.

AFI Top 100 Movies #4: Shawshank Redemption, Redemption of Innocence

Best-Movie-Recommendation-the-Shawshank-Redemption-Cheer-and-Applause-for-Him-the-Hero-

Me as the girl on the poster

Me as the girl on the poster

Shawshank Redemption was another movie that was on the list and I got pretty excited about it. I heard that it was a story looking at the perspective of these men that are in prison. I already knew from the beginning the movie was going to include that famous jail break where they would take a sharp object and slowly build themselves a tunnel to get through. In the movie he used a small rock hammer but I thought it was going to be a fork. I know, breaking down a cement wall with a fork is absurd.

I did enjoy Shawshank Redemption, it was a pretty interesting concept and the whole time I was debating about whether or not Andy killed his wife or not. I mostly stuck to him not killing his wife. I enjoyed how we got to see Andy grow with the other men in jail and gain their trust. It was a slow process for Andy but he eventually grew to gain a friendship with those men and especially Ellis. I also found how interesting it was that in the beginning they had the jail men make a bet on which new men would break first. Ellis thought Andy would be the first one to break down crying but Andy stayed brave and held his composure. There was a theme in this, that there is more to a person that meets the eye. You may never expect it out of them but those are some of the best surprises. There was also a lot of symbolism in the movie. The small rock hammer resembled how just a little bit of hope and keeping the faith will take you places.

Something that I heard a lot throughout the movie was Ellis telling Andy multiple times that everyone in that jail was innocent when Andy would tell him he didn’t shoot his wife. It was like saying that everyone in that jail has never done anything they were not supposed to do, but we all know that it meant that people lie about what they may have or did not do just to get out of trouble. Just like how we lie every now and then to stay out of a punishment. But of course parents always know. I feel like if my parents were cops then they would be able to detect the liars quickly. I can never get away with anything in this house so I would like to see the cops try deputies mom and dad.

The thing I didn’t really like about this movie is that it went on forever. Not joking when I tell you that it was about 3 hours or longer! It was a good story at first but then all of a sudden it started getting a bit boring around the middle. As it neared the end it started becoming more interesting. If they were to shorten the time a bit and get rid of scenes that were not as important or entertaining then it would be more enjoyable. Plus I don’t recommend watching this movie late at night because it was kind of hard to concentrate when you were tired and the movie goes on for three hours. I definitely recommend people to watch this movie because it had a really interesting story and I definitely enjoyed it. Just make sure you have enough time to watch it.

AFI Top 100 Movies #3: Saving Private Ryan, Earning It!

saving-private-ryan-poster-copy

I was really excited about watching this movie because I heard about it a lot and a few of my guy friends had told me it was their favorite movie. One of them even told me that this movie was the only to make him cry. I’m really into emotional movies that make me cry because that means that the message and the acting is so powerful that it sparks up an emotion in me, plus I saw that the movie had Tom Hanks in it and that moved me to watch the movie as well.

So far out of all the movies I have written about, Saving Private Ryan has been the best by far! I really liked this movie and was hooked from the very beginning. Let me tell you guys a little bit about myself, I’m really into action. You throw action into a movie and I’ll have my eyes glued to the screen no problem. Saving Private Ryan was packed full of action. One of the first scenes from the movie is them fighting on the beach and everyone was getting killed. Blood and guts rained over the soldiers as they fought for their lives and their country. It was a very gory movie seeing how soldiers were being blown up into pieces, limbs were being torn off their bodies, and blood was everywhere. Another thing you guys should know about me, I’m not very good with blood. Even if it’s in a movie, I see a lot of blood and I feel sick to my stomach. I know I’m weird, I like action movies but get sick at the sight of blood. Something I found interesting was that while the soldiers were getting shot at, there were medics on the battlefield trying not to get hit by bullets and perform surgery at the same time. Talk about high stress levels! I know I wouldn’t be focused enough to try and get a bullet out of another man, I’d be running around like a headless chicken and praying I don’t get shot. I’ve complained about the other movies having cheesy effects but the effects in this movie were on point and fantastic! Everything looked so realistic which didn’t help with my blood situation but still cool. Seeing this movie has helped open my eyes to see the kind of risks that our soldiers put themselves in every day trying to protect us and our country. I really salute you all that are currently fighting or have fought in a war. You guys are true heroes and I appreciate everything you do. Something that connects all three movies is that they all mention World War II in them. Citizen Kane talked about the Germans and soldiers, Casablanca was a place that rich french people went to during the war.

saving-private-ryan-script-vin-diesel-2

Me as the little girl 🙂

While watching the movie I have noticed a lot of themes in the movie which I found very touching.  In the movie one of the men that were on the mission went to go try and save this little girl even though his captain said to leave her. The soldier felt like he could help the little girl but instead he got shot. So I started thinking, can someone afford to keep their humanity on high risk situations like this or should they stick to their mission? I feel like this showed that once you go into war your main focus is to try and get rid of the enemy and protect your country so everything else that would seem right is not done because they have to stick to their specific mission. Something else I found interesting is how this movie portrayed the saying “one for all and all for one”. Basically the whole movie is these 8 soldiers risking their own lives to send private Ryan back to his mother because his other three brothers had died int he war and they could not put Mrs. Ryan through another heartbreak of losing four sons. All of the 8 soldiers stuck by each other and protected each other from harm as best they could and went to go save another one of their fellow soldiers. This shows how in the army you can form such a tight bond with each other that it becomes a brotherhood.

One of the saddest parts in the movie to me was when they went to go tell mama Ryan that three of her sons had died. This took place in World War II so they didn’t get a phone call, they would have a vehicle drive up to your house and someone would tell you. They showed an army green car pulling up the drive way and mama Ryan looking out the window at the car so you could tell that she knew one of her sons had died but she was praying that it wasn’t true. The worst part is that the audience knows she lost all three of her sons but she doesn’t so I’m waiting there crawled up in a ball imagining how difficult it must be to know that three of your sons died and you still have another one fighting in that war.

Now I’m about to rant a little here about this soldier, Upham. He was taken on the mission because they needed someone who could speak German to go along with them. I liked him at first because he kept the soldiers in the group sane and tried to restore balance and good in them. The soldiers were going to kill a German soldier because he shot and killed one of their friends but Upham spoke some sense into them and they ended up releasing him. Later in the movie that same German soldier comes back and is fighting another one of his fellow soldiers and Upham knows. But what does he do? He is so scared that fear paralyzes him, hides behind the stairs and listens to a friend of his get killed by someone he gave a chance to live. Don’t just sit there and listen to your friend get beat up! Try and help the poor guy!  I know that Upham was afraid of killing people but instead of killing the guy you could shoot him in the leg or the arm so that he stops beating up your friend. The worst part is that after the German soldier killed his friend he just watches the German soldier go down the stairs and back into battle. He then sits on the stairs and cries some more. Life as he knew it changed forever as he ends up killing that same German that he saved in the beginning towards the end of the movie. His decision to save that German ended up costing the lifes of many of his fellow soldiers. I’m going to leave you with a question that I don’t have an answer to: Do you think it is possible to keep your humanity during times of war? Can you afford to keep your humanity during times of war?

There really wasn’t any fashion to look at in this movie since they were concentrating more on the action and the soldiers that were fighting. I think this movie was a great movie for people to watch because it opens your eyes to look at it a little more from a soldier’s perspective. So now I think about how people complain about how much they hate their jobs but soldiers are risking their lives fighting for a majority of people they don’t even know but they still sign up. I am so grateful for the life I am given and to know that these soldiers help me live it and keep me and the rest of the country safe.

AFI Top 100 Movies #2: Casablanca, not a White House Documentary

casablanca teen fashion blog

Me as Ylsa

I can’t really recalled when was the first time I heard about Casablanca, but I know I was very young. As a child, I used the title to come up with an idea of what the movie was about so I thought it was a White House documentary for Hispanics because casa blanca means white house in Spanish. As the years went by I saw movies and shows making references using parts of the movie and I started to figure out that it was a love story. I was never the kind of girl who truly enjoyed love stories, I was always that little girl who would see my parents kiss and scream “ewww” afterwards. I’ll confess to still doing that to them now and then, but my sister harmonizes the ewwwwww with me so I’m not alone.

I watched Casablanca the other day with my sister and my parents and I didn’t enjoy this movie either. I will admit that I enjoyed it a bit more than Citizen Kane for sure! It’s going to be difficult for a movie to be worst than Citizen Kane. The reason I didn’t like this movie is because I feel like they had a great opportunity to make a great story out of it and they totally messed it up. This movie took place during World War II and I have always loved learning about that war because of all the interesting things that went on. They could have done a perfect love story movie about the war with Germany but instead they decided to make a really sucky love story out of it. If you really can name that a love story. That upsets me big time.

Another thing that upset me about this movie is the “love triangle”. It may just be that I’m too young to understand what it feels like to love another (or two) in that way, but I feel that love triangles are pretty pathetic. I would think that you would be able to know who you truly love easily because you would be willing to go the distance with them more than the other, but like I said, I have never experienced what it is to feel that kind of love. It didn’t help that Ylsa was also being a total brat in the movie! I felt so bad for the other men that she kept leading on! It’s almost as if none of the guys could win with that girl and it’s really not fair at all to them. Girl, stick to one man and quit cheating them both. You are in such desperate need of attention that you are wasting everybody’s time.

This  may be a bit off topic about what I was just ranting about but I thought that Yvonne was a lot prettier than Ylsa! Captain Louis Renault told Ylsa that she was the prettiest girl in Casablanca and all I could think was: “Are you blind?! Did you not just see Yvonne?” She was prettier than Ylsa therefore making her the reigning prettiest girl in Casablanca. Long may she reign.

I will admit that the movie did have a few key things that I found interesting. I heard a lot of quotes that came out of this movie that I have heard in multiple TV shows and movies. When Rick says “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship” to Captain Louis Renault. Also when Ylsa says “Kiss me as if it were the last time” to Rick. I would have never guessed that those quotes came out of Casablanca and that impressed me quite a bit. My favorite quote out of the movie was when Rick said “Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine…”. I found this quote really interesting, how funny it is that life throws people randomly into our lives because we have a purpose with them, as if everyone that comes in and out is there for a specific reason.

But back to what really is important to me about this movie, THE clothes! The clothes in this movie were super fabulous! Yvonne rocked this crop top with a deep V neck and a semi A-line skirt in the beginning of the movie. Then when she was leaving Rick’s club she put over this sheer cape looking thing over the outfit which made her look even more fabulous! You go glen coco!

The next outfit is Ylsa wearing a striped shirt (can’t tell what colors because the movie is in BLACK AND WHITE and it totally sucks that I can’t tell what color pairing they did) under a white dress topped off with a big hat which sported the high fashion look. The next looks is Ylsa again wearing a white coat (or at least I imagine it white) and I absolutely love it, it’s super stylish and looks like something I would see a rich girl wearing in New York. The next picture is Ylsa wearing a silk nightgown in Paris which I found super elegant and luxurious. Imagine sleeping in silk every night, I would sleep like a baby.

On a completely different and random note, I was watching Casablanca and suddenly noticed the girl above and screamed Kourtney Kardashian! I can’t be the only one who thinks this girl looks a lot like a tired version of Kourtney. The faces are so similar that it’s pretty difficult to tell the difference. Weird!

AFI Top 100 Movies #1: Citizen Kane or Citizen Lame?

100_tile_v2

My mom is a huge stickler about teaching my sister and I how to become more cultured. Last summer she had us learn all the different art periods and the top 100 paintings and artists. Having to learn this was a major bore and I threw a fit every time she called us into her room to learn more. She also had us read a huge book on mythology which I actually enjoyed because I loved learning about the different Greek gods and the stories associated with them all. This year my mom has decided to have us learn all the classical music periods. I have really enjoyed listening to all of the different styles of music but could pass up the music lectures any day! My mom also decided that she is going to have us watch the 100 greatest american films of all time. She wants my family to finish all 100 of them before I go off to college but at the rate we’re going at we’ll probably be done by the end of the summer. Ok, I’m exaggerating a bit.

CItizen-Kane-BLOG-PIC

The 100 greatest films of all time are movies that have been chosen by an American Film Institute’s panel which includes more than 1,500 leaders of the film industry. When I first heard about my mom telling me that she wanted to watch all 100 movies I was super excited because I don’t have to go through any boring lectures and I get to lay back and enjoy movies that have been picked by many actors and directors. My mom had me watch the movie that was rated number one on the list, Citizen Kane. I kid you not when I tell you that it was difficult for me not to daze off. It felt like the movie lasted forever and as if it was going nowhere! It took place in the 1940’s so the effects were pretty cheesy and I can’t stand cheesy effects. Plus the movie was in black and white and I like being able to see my movies with color. It adds more life to the movie and even personality. I do understand that this was a gigantic achievement for the film industry when it came out but I’m 14 and let’s face it, all the movies from my time are in color and with way cooler effects.

I didn’t like the movie but I do remember that afterwards my dad, sister, and I started making fun of it. In the beginning of the movie we get Citizen Kane’s last word which was “Rosebud”. We laughed because it was a really odd choice of words to say when you die and of course we couldn’t stop from thinking of a certain biological need (if you catch my drift). I also remember that after the movie ended my dad and I were so bored that we took a champagne bottle cork and his flip flops and started playing a ping pong like game that we called flip flop pong! Every time we hit the cork we got a point and the points where scored in “rosebuds”. I know, it is stupid but we needed some sort of exercise to wake up. 🙂

Citizen Kane (1941)

Citizen_Kane_jigsaw

Of course as a little fashionista, I had to pay attention to the clothes that the girls were wearing which was pretty much the only fun I got out of the whole movie. There was not a lot of fashion as the movie concentrates mainly on the main character, Mr. Kane.  However, because Kane was pretty rich, he was able to buy his wives a lot of things. Some of the things they got were nice looking clothes and accessories for the era and I can always appreciate nice vintage pieces. In the first picture, his first wife Emily is wearing a dress where the sleeves come down to her shoulders with lace and flower details. The other two pictures are his second wife, Susan Kane. In the first picture Susan was wearing some sort of shawl with a fur detail  and a hat with waves in the front. The second picture shows her in a sheer shawl with crystal embellishments. This last outfit was my favorite outfit that came out of this movie because of how elegant it is.

And here I am as Mrs. Kane!

FFF: Fab Fifty Friday by teen fashion blog

For years I would go shopping with my mom around the summer time in search of the perfect white summer dress for her. She never has been able to find the perfect dress she was looking for and she would always get pretty bugged about it. I have to admit, I would like a white dress for the summer myself. I just imagine how pretty a white dress would look with the blue of the ocean water in a picture. Plus white is a color that looks really good against my mom’s and I’s skin tone.

While I went online shopping for today’s Fab Fifty I found this gorgeous white skater dress with a crochet like top. I fell in love instantly and started thinking about all of the different looks I could style with that dress. White is a color that you can combine with any color and it would still like fabulous. Instead of using some ordinary expected color, I decided to give the outfit a little edge by adding denim. I guess you could say I’m sort of a risk taker. Plus I’m glad I decided to do that because it separated this outfit from a lot of other different looks and made it a little unique. I really  like making things unique so that’s why I always to try and add a little flair to my outfits.

I found the white dress at Persun mall for $23.99 and I thought that was an amazing deal! I found the purse at Target for $8.74 and that was the piece that had me pair up denim with this dress. To match the purse I added a denim sandal from Persun mall as well for $15.99. The bracelet I found at Claire’s and it finished up the look really well. I love this look because I could wear it to the movies, go out on a casual date, I could also go shopping in this. 4th of July is coming up and this would be a perfect outfit to wear to a family
